According to Goodreads, I read my longest book of the year this month: The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. It was also one of my favorite books of the year. Riordan is a masterful storyteller, and it was great to revisit the world of Camp Half Blood. I also really enjoyed both Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and The Body at the Tower by Y. S. Lee, and I look forward to the next book in each series. I finally read Crank by Ellen Hopkins, and I'm glad I did. I was also very impressed by how strong several of the individual poems were in the novel. My heart, however, belongs to D.J. Schwenk of Red Bend, Wisconsin. I finished the Dairy Queen trilogy, and I know the Schwenk family is going to hold a special place in my heart for a long time to come. It's also been wonderful to watch the books work their way through my classroom, where they've proven to be a big hit. These books are definitely something special, and I'm glad to be able to share them with my students.
